“Guard this project jealously; remember that if anything goes wrong with it, no one else will suffer it but the community. That is why we always ensure that you take over the project and own it”
Speaking on behalf to the community at the commissioning ceremony, a Community, Leader Chief Emmanuel Edem Etim expressed gratitude to the NDDC for rescuing the people from the perennial problem of water scarcity.
According to Chief Etim, the community’s only source of drinking water was a stream, which was often polluted as a result of oil exploration and exploitation in the area, thereby exposing the people to various health hazards. “We are happy with NDDC, we used to trek long distance to get water from the stream, we prayed and hoped for this day. We thank God it has become a reality”
Chief Edem promised that the project will be jealously guarded against any form of vandalisation or abuse.
