In its determined efforts to quicken the pace of development in Nigeria’s oil-producing states, the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), has inaugurated a road project in Imo State.
The three-kilometre road, with drainages, is situated in Aladinma estate, Owerri North Local Government.
Performing the ceremony NDDC, Managing Director, Dr. Christian Oboh, represented by the Director, Imo State Office, Osato Arenyika, said from now on, completed projects of the interventionist agency would be Commissioned as a sign of performance.
“In the past, we had taken it for granted that our projects will speak for us, but it has become necessary to also show the people what we are doing,” he said.
Dr. Oboh charged the Saint Andrew’s Neighbourhood Association (SANA), the body coordinating the affairs of the estate, to maintain the road, street lights and transformer provided by the NDDC.
Chairman of the SANA neighbourhood, Engr. Michael Nwachukwu noted that the NDDC has added value to the lives of the people in the area.
“You have made us the envy of the town, our neighbourhood has become the prime place to live in this town, with durable roads built for us, the transformer you gave us and recently the solar street lights,” he said.
