Communities in the Niger Delta region have continued to benefit from the NDDC initiated Solar Powered Water projects as well as Solar Powered Street Lights.
The latest include Ekiogbo in Ugheli North LGA, Ugbuwangue in Warri South LGA and Ogun-Aja in Sapele, Delta State which got twenty Thousand (20,000) gallons water projects each.
Seven other communities cutting across Okpe, Urvie, Isoko, Warri South West, Ethiope East and Bomadi Local Government Areas also in Delta State got Solar Powered Street Lights.
Inaugurating the street lights on behalf of the Managing Director, NDDC, Dr. Christian Oboh, the Delta State Representative on the NDDC Board, Chief Solomon Ogbah charged the communities to make maximum use of the light designed to improve their well being.
NDDC, he said has executed over four hundred (400) physical infrastructure in Delta State, ranging from roads, jetties, electrification, water, shore protection to canalization.
At the inauguration of the Solar Powered Water project, the NDDC Managing Director, represented by the State Coordinator, Delta State Office, Dr. Omawumi Urhobo stated that the policy thrust of the Commission was to ensure that the people of the Niger Delta region rose above poverty level through various empowerment programmes.
Similar projects were recently inaugurated in communities in Rivers State.
