KAIAMA COMMUNITY LAUDS NDDC, PLEDGES FULL SUPPORT.

The Kaiama community in Bayelsa State has lauded the efforts and determination of the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC in bringing sustainable development and infrastructure to rural communities in the region.

The Amanaowei of Kaiama, His Royal Highness Jerry Burutolu, who led a delegation of opinion leaders, elders and women leaders from the community on a thank you visit to the NDDC said the NDDC has lived up to expectation in the provision of the much needed infrastructural development and programmes in the region and Kaiama community in particular.

The Kaiama Monarch described the electrification project as second to none, adding “the light is on, it is even better than anyone I can think of. We are enjoying it, no interruption”.

The Traditional Ruler who narrated the over five decades of deprivation and neglect of the community by successive governments, despite its strategic and economic importance to the region, thanked the Commission for coming to her aid with a mega shore-line protection, solar-powered water project and 100KVA generating plant as well as 8 nos. 300 KVA transformer to boost electricity distribution in the community.

”Our mission is to express our boundless gratitude because of the role you have played and still playing in endowing Kaiama with much needed facilities we had lacked some five decades ago when Nigeria became a sovereign state”, he said.

The community also used the occasion of the visit to solicit the Commission’s assistance in the construction of Kaiama road among other requests.

In his response, the Managing Director/CEO, Mr. Timi Alaibe said the NDDC will continue to provide development projects in the rural communities of the region and appealed to the people to protect such projects against vandalization.

Mr. Alaibe said it was the desire of the present administration of Alhaji Umaru Musa Yar’Adua to touch the lives of the people of the region with sustainable projects and programmes that will enhance their capacity and create better living conditions.

“I urge you to maintain peace in your community and protect whatever project put there by the Federal Government against vandalization as well as put them to maximum use”, Alaibe said.
