Engr. Samuel Awolowo Ayadi-Yala was born in Ilepete, Ilaje LGA of Ondo State, where he had his primary education between 1962 and 1967 at LA and Methodist Primary Schools. In 1968 he proceeded to Modern School Ilepete and left in 1970 for Manuwa Memorial Grammar School, Iju Odo, Okitipupa from where he acquired the West African School Certificate as the best student in his set in 1975.
He worked for about one year as a Clerk at the Nigerian Institute of International Affairs, Victoria Island, Lagos before he was admitted in 1976 into the University of Nigeria, Nsukka where he studied Mechanical Engineering. He graduated in 1981 with a Bachelor of Engineering (Honours). He also has a Post graduate Diploma in Computer Science from the University of Benin. Following completion of his national youth service, he joined Midland Galvanizing Company, Abeokuta as a Production Engineer. In 1983, he was employed as Engineer II at Delta Steel Company Limited (DSC), Ovwian-Aladja, near Warri.
At DSC, he headed three units, Systems Engineering and Techno-Economics, (both in Project Engineering and Design Bureau) as well as Materials Management Systems. He eventually rose to become Chief Engineer (Electronic Data Processing) in 1995. Engr. Ayadi-Yala left DSC in 2002 to join NDDC as an Assistant Director and Ondo State Coordinator, a position he held before his recent promotion to Deputy Director and redeployment as Acting Director, Environmental Protection and Control at the Commission’s headquarters in Port Harcourt.
A corporate member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, he was Treasurer of the Warri Branch of the Society between 1991 and 1994. He is also registered as an Engineer with the Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria.
Engr Ayadi-Yala is married with four children, enjoys listening to news and is very interested in activities that are knowledge-based.
