Journalist and Public Relations professional, Mr. Anietie Usen, studied Political Science at the University of Calabar. He is also a graduate of the Thompson Foundation Cardiff, UK. He began his journalism career with The Punch Newspaper in 1984 before he moved to the Newswatch magazine as one of the pioneer reporters and rose rapidly to become the general editor of the magazine. An alumnus of the prestigious Manchester Business School, University of Manchester; and the famous Lagos Business School, LBS, Pan-African University, Mr. Usen has had a distinguished journalism career, winning in the process several professional awards including the Nigerian Union of Journalists Award for Excellence in Features Writing and the UAC/UNILEVER Star Merit Award in Journalism, which fetched him an overseas scholarship in 1989.
A multi-talented media operative, he has also been honoured with the award of Excellence in Communications, by the Radio and Television Workers Union of Nigeria (RATAWU). He was at various times the Special Assistant to the Governor of Akwa Ibom State; General Manager and Chief Executive Officer, Akwa Ibom State Newspaper Corporation; West African Regional Editor, Africa Today magazine, London; Senior Political Analyst/Editorial Board Member of THISDAY Newspaper, Publisher of ALIVE Newspaper, Lagos and Publisher of Niger Delta News Online, an internet-based publication on the Niger Delta region.
He joined the Niger Delta Development Commission, NDDC, as Deputy Director and Head, Corporate Affairs. Mr. Usen is now Director, Commercial and Industrial Development. He is cited in the Who's Who in Nigeria by the Nigerian International Biographical Centre, NIBC. He is a member of several professional bodies and associations. They include the Nigeria Institute of Public Relations (MNIPR), Nigerian Institute of Management (MNIM), Nigeria Guild of Editors, Commonwealth Journalists Association and the European Market Research Centre, EMRC. Usen, who has served several tenures as President of Full Gospel Businessmen Fellowship International (FGBMFI) is a passionate Sunday School teacher, a table tennis player, a lawn tennis and football enthusiast, who supports Chelsea FC come rain, come shine.
Married with four children, Usen has traveled the world.
